I'm not usually a big fan of auds but the two available on LMA for 11/1/85 are fantastic and take me back to THE SHOW of that tour.

My favorite pick would be #33 10/09&10/76. This pick was long overdue in light of the fact that pick #20 9/25&28/76 was released years before and can't hold a candle to #33. In fact #20's release led to an small uproar over at DNC, check the posts from this time period and you'll see. I won't even go into detail because it was a sticky situation and the ripples can still be felt today. Just the same I find myself returning to #20 now and then for a listen.

Anyways, pick #33 disproves the theory that 1976 was the darkhorse year for the dead. Everyone in the band sounds very much alive and Jerry plays some liquid solos unlike any years before or after. 10/09/76's second set is incredible, if your looking for a great help>slip>franklins look no further. Check out the Cassidy from 10/10/76 for one of the most fluent/lyrical solos ever for this song. Most importantly though, 1976 represents some of the Deads best ensemble playing and #33 is no exception.

To me the best picks are the ones that release material that has been unavailable to the trading community and #33 qualifys in this area as well. 10/09/76 & 10/10/76 were never available in the quality or even some parts in sbd before pick #33 came out. It was a revelation to pop this show on my cd player and here it in all its pristine glory.
